Becoming a PU-PH in pharmacy
Residency and DES, fellowship (AHU), PhD, HDR, mobility: the same academic hospital status, with the pharmacy CNU sections.
Since decree no. 2021-1645, MCU-PHs and PU-PHs in medicine, pharmacy and dentistry form single corps: the statutory steps (fellowship, PhD, HDR, mobility, competitive examination) are therefore the same as in medicine. The steps

Residency and DES
DES (specialty training diploma, residency) in hospital pharmacy (or medical biology), in three phases: foundation, advanced training, consolidation (duration and curriculum to be verified in the order in force).

Academic hospital assistant (AHU)
Pharmaceutical and biological disciplines fall under the AHU (academic hospital assistant) status: 2 years, renewable twice for one year.
With AI: lectures and MCQs, triaging your email, career file.

PhD, HDR, mobility
The same rules as in medicine.
With AI: manuscript review, conference presentation, database.

MCU-PH, then PU-PH
Academic hospital staff in pharmacy fall under CNU sections 80, 81 and 82 (physico-chemical sciences and engineering applied to health; sciences of medicines and other health products; biological sciences, fundamental and clinical).
With AI: Reactor, skills and hats.
Other routes
- Hospital practitioner (PH) pharmacist: a non-academic hospital career, through the national PH competitive examination (conditions to be verified on the CNG website).
- University-only academics (“mono-appartenants”: associate professor, professor) in sections 85 to 87: university activity without a statutory hospital position.
